Viktor Mezek, a respected mentor to apprentices, invites his orphaned apprentice Laco for Christmas when his relationship with Hana falters. After the holidays, Laco is taunted over rumors of a homosexual relationship with Mezek and beats a fellow apprentice, risking expulsion, then disappears.
